Join Kim Slader to welcome the new moon in Sagittarius and the celestial energies, preparing for us to set intentions and take action on any new inspirations that have found us. New Moons are always considered a powerful time to send out to the Universe what we wish to draw back to us. However, New Moons are also famous for their dark side which means we may have clouded judgment or feel a level of uncertainty. If you’d like to learn more about this New Moon and its affects on you join Kim for a Sagittarius New Moon Circle!
Come for astrology, community, and tarot readings tailored to your sign and chart. No astrological knowledge is necessary and our gatherings are welcome to everyone. Feel the buzz of fellowship, surrounded by gratitude and welcoming of change and new beginnings. We’ll mainly be discussing our sun, moon, and rising signs so if you don’t know what those are we can figure them out together. We’ll also meditate and pull cards for clarity if there’s time.
Please bring a journal and an open mind as Kim leads the group through this new moon and season in our lives.

ARTfactory’s Rooftop Productions announces auditions for MisCast Cabaret – A Fortieth Anniversary Celebration
Calling all talented performers! Rooftop Productions is excited to announce auditions for our MisCast Cabaret – 40th Anniversary Celebration . Join us for a unique and unforgettable night in the Wind River Theater as we showcase the extraordinary talent of our misfit performers, as they flawlessly weave classic and contemporary songs into unexpected new contexts.
We invite auditioners to sing two selections, one ballad and one up-tempo, of their choice that best showcase their vocal range and performance skills. Video submissions are welcomed and encouraged for those unable to attend in person. This is a fantastic opportunity for performers to challenge themselves by showcasing their versatility and bringing a fresh perspective to well-known musical numbers that may have been out of reach.
Auditioners may submit solos, duos and small ensembles.
Auditions will be held on January 2 and 4 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Callbacks if necessary will be held on Saturday, January 6 at 1 pm. For those unable to find a suitable time slot or for individuals submitting video auditions, please email us at kimberly@virginiaartfactory.org to arrange an alternative audition arrangement.
Regardless of whether you are an established performer or someone new to the stage, we welcome performers of all experience levels to audition. Our Rooftop MisCast Cabaret aims to showcase unique and diverse talents and provide a platform for artists whose voices may not traditionally be heard.
The rehearsal schedule will be decided once we have our cast. We plan to include two company numbers and a number for all men and a number for all women.
Performances will be held at the Wind River Chimes Theater beginning on Friday, March 8 and running March 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17.
Don’t miss the chance to be a part of this exciting event! Rooftop Productions eagerly awaits the opportunity to witness your extraordinary talent and creativity. Let your voice shine!

Pied Piper Theatre presents
Guys and Dolls
Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler, Nathan Detroit, tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they’ve been engaged for fourteen years. Join us for an exciting and fun -filled adventure into the world of acting. While working as a team, our actors and actresses will work together on A Mother Goose Comedy by Patricia Barry Rumble. The world-famous, fun-loving Mother Goose is now retired and living in Mother Goose Resort Spa, where she has time to keep active and pursue her favorite hobbies. She’s really into sports and fitness! She gets tweets and texts, and even letters, from children all over the world who want to know how she got the ideas for her nursery rhymes. Assisted by the stage manager, her gander Sydney, she uses comedy sketches and audience participation to show how all of her nursery rhymes and characters came about.
With energetic new twists — including a daredevil Humpty Dumpty, a suspicious Bo Peep, and a dancercising Mrs. Sprat — Mother Goose skates, jogs, and scuba-dives her way into children’s hearts. (Ages 5 – 8)

Event Details
Rooftop Productions presents Rumors by Neil Simon.
Join us for auditions for Neil Simon’s hilarious and fast-paced comedy, Rumors! This witty and wacky play revolves around the chaotic events that ensue when four couples gather for a dinner party at a New York City townhouse.
Synopsis:
Set in the 1980s, Rumors begins with a prestigious couple, Charlie and Myra Brock, hosting a celebration for their wedding anniversary. However, just moments before the guests arrive, they discover that Charlie has been shot, and Myra is missing. As the couples arrive one by one, they are met with a house in disarray, confused servants, and no explanation for what has happened. Panic ensues as they attempt to keep the situation under control, concocting increasingly elaborate lies to shield their friends and themselves from scandal.
As the evening progresses, misunderstandings intensify, miscommunications run amok, and hilarious antics unfold. From mistaken identities to eavesdropping and slapstick comedy, Rumors keeps the audience on the edge of their seats, constantly surprising and delighting with its frenetic pace and clever wordplay.
Characters:
We are seeking a diverse cast of talented actors to bring the colorful characters of Rumors to life.
The cast includes:
– Ken Gorman: A successful lawyer. Wealthy, but by no means pretentious. Takes charge of the situation.
– Chris Gorman: Ken’s neurotic and high-strung wife who tends to overreact to every situation. Frantically tries to maintain normalcy at the party. Has recently quit smoking, which drives her to drink a bit more.
– Lenny Ganz: Ken’s best friend and a charismatic yet blunt attorney. A wealthy accountant, distraught over the recent destruction over his new car. Intolerant of the gossipy-lifestyle that he is often involved in.
– Claire Ganz: Lenny’s beautiful wife. Very concerned with appearances (hers and others’). Likes to gossip.
– Ernie Cusack: A psychologist with a dry sense of humor. Loves his wife very much. Tries to be as helpful as possible cooking the evening’s dinner.
– Cookie Cusack: Ernie’s wife, eccentric and fond of cooking. Suffers from extreme back spasms. Loves her husband very much. A bit absent-minded at times.
– Glenn Cooper: A hot-tempered politician with a secret past. Struggles with placating his wife, who is convinced he is having an affair (which he may or may not be).
– Cassie Cooper: Glenn’s trophy wife, glamorous but insecure. Quick to anger. Must rub her quartz crystal to calm herself down.
Officer Welch: Typical in-charge, no-nonsense police officer. “Just the facts”. Wants to wrap up the case and get home.
Officer Pudney: New to the job, more modern in approach. Sarcastic and funny. Enjoys her job but does get exasperated with the obvious lying.
Director’s Note:
Rumors is a whirlwind of laughter and chaotic situations, with dialogue that requires impeccable comedic timing. We are looking for actors who can bring out the hilarious nuances of Neil Simon’s writing while maintaining a sincere and genuine portrayal of their characters. This play offers plenty of opportunities for physical comedy, quick exchanges of witty banter, and over-the-top comedic moments.
Prepare a comedic monologue that showcases your ability to deliver sharp and witty dialogue. You may also be asked to read sides from the script during the audition.
Don’t miss your chance to be part of an uproarious and side-splitting production of Neil Simon’s “Rumors”! We look forward to seeing your audition and unleashing the laughter on stage!
Audition Dates: Tuesday and Thursday, April 9 and 11 from 7 – 9:30 pm
Callbacks: Saturday, April 13 at 2 pm. Be prepared to read sides from the script.
Audition and Performance Location: Wind River Chimes Theater at the ARTfactory.
