“ARTfactory Instructors Exhibit”
ARTfactory is proud to present the ARTfactory Instructors Exhibit, an exhibition showcasing the talent of 20 of our past, present, and future instructors.
Lory Ivey Alexander is a DC-native artist exploring history, memory, and identity. Best known for her use of color, sculptural paintings, and lyrical writing, Lory facilitates meditations on the richness of Black and Indigenous American identity.
This year we received over 200 submissions from 154 students! 39 students artists made the cut for a total of 44 pieces of art for this year’s exhibit and competition.
Sunrise to Sunset is a group art exhibition featuring over 40 plein air paintings by 18 local artists from the Nova Plein Air Artists (NPAA) group. “En plein air”, or plein air painting, is a 19th century French expression that means “in the open air” and it is the act of painting outdoors.
The highly anticipated Off the Wall competition returns for its 19th year! Each year the area high school students are invited to share their talent by participating in a high school art exhibit and competition sponsored by Lockheed Martin.
Scott Eagle is an Associate Professor and serves as the Area Coordinator for the Painting and Drawing program at the School of Art and Design, at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. His paintings and illustrations have been exhibited and reproduced internationally.
“The Many Rooms” is a collection of mixed media pieces by DC artist Zsudayka Nzinga. Based on the scripture, “In my Father’s house there are many mansions/rooms” John 14, Nzinga observes experiences in her home and with family just prior to the pandemic through the new year.
In celebration of their golden anniversary, ARTfactory is hosting a group art exhibit featuring 44 original works of art from 11 PWAS members. This group exhibit contains a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, mixed media, and Photoart.
