Event Details

Ideal for young students interested in starting their musical theatre journey! This workshop gives a wider overview of the following:

  • Explore vocal technique including vocal placement, breath support and exploring vocal character in the context of musical theater pieces.
  • Expand our knowledge of reading a musical score in a rehearsal context (how to navigate a musical score, decoding musical markings and their meanings, and how a music rehearsal is structured)
  • Gain Confidence in a rehearsal setting and group performance setting!  (Elementary Aged Students)

Class will begin on Tuesday, September 12 and run Tuesdays and Thursdays until Thursday, September 28 from 5:15-6 pm.

Instructor: Mary Nessmith GaskinsMary Gaskins, soprano, is an Orff and Kodaly-certified general music and choral teacher.  She received her B.M. Music Education from Georgia Southern University in 2007 and her M.M. Music Education from George Mason University in 2019.  In her 17 years as an educator, Mary has worked with singers from preschool age through adult.  She is an active participant in local community theater, both onstage and off, with recent credits including the ensembles of Sweeney Todd, Sister Act and Oliver!, and assistant stage manager for 23rd Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Tuition: $75  Register by September 4 for 10% tuition discount for non-members and 25% discount for members.
