Event Details

Rock got no reason, rock got no rhyme…You better get me to school on time! Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock – The Musical is a two-hour, two-act show (plus intermission), based on the hit movie. The tuner follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out? About the Show

Lloyd Webber produced the stage musical on Broadway and in the West End, penning 14 new numbers for the show, which additionally features all of the original songs from the movie. The composer’s tracks “You’re in the Band” and “Stick it to the Man” are well on their way to becoming rock solid standards, while the finale with “Teacher’s Pet” brings audiences to their feet, eight shows a week.

School of Rock – The Musical, with its sensational live kids’ rock band, is a loving testimony to the transforming power of music. May the spirit of rock be with all who pledge allegiance to Lloyd Webber’s newest hit!

COVID POLICY:   At this time, we will not be requiring vaccination, however there will be a strict protocol regarding illnesses and we recommend masks for rehearsals. The cast will perform without masks.

Show Dates:  School of Rock will be performed at Gregory Family Theater in the Hylton Performing Arts Center

Friday, May 12 and 19 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, May 13 and 20 at 7 p.m. and Sundays, May 14 and 21 at 2 p.m. On Thursday, May 18 there we will be a special performance for Manassas City Schools during the day.  The time will be determined as soon as possible.

Rehearsals will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at Baldwin Elementary School from 6 – 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays at the ARTfactory from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Audition Details

Sign up for a time to audition at School of Rock Audition Sign Ups

Auditions will consist of a song performance, line reading and a group dance audition.
To access the sides to read at auditions, please click on this link:  Audition Sides (Sides are selections from the script.) 
Select the side you wish to audition with.  If there is time, we may ask you to read a side from another character.  
You don’t have to bring your sides with you.  We will have some available at the auditions.
An additional instrument audition will be required for all individuals seeking to audition for Dewy, Zack, Katie, Freddie and Lawrence.
The instrumental audition should be a video you produce no more than five minutes long. If you would like to audition for more than one instrument, you may do so.  you will need to submit a video for each one. Videos must be received before Saturday, February 4 at 12:00 p.m. (noon).
